The Board of Directors of CIC has appointed Éric Charpentier as Deputy CEO and effective manager.1 The appointment was made on July 28 and is effective from today, September 1, 2021.

Éric Charpentier will be responsible for corporate banking, capital markets, private equity and asset management. He will also oversee the private banking businesses (Banque de Luxembourg, CIC Suisse and Banque Transatlantique). He succeeds Philippe Vidal, who has led all of these businesses since 2012.

As CIC unveiled a record half-yearly net profit, the Board of Directors unanimously paid tribute to Philippe Vidal’s exceptional commitment and the remarkable performance of the businesses he has led for over a decade.

Philippe Vidal has been appointed as executive advisor to the CEO. He will support Éric Charpentier until December 31, 2021 as he settles into his new role.

I am very pleased that Éric Charpentier, CEO of Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe, is taking over responsibility for corporate banking, capital markets, private equity, asset management and private banking and contributing all his talent to the ongoing success of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale. CIC salutes Philippe Vidal, a great manager with entrepreneurship in his blood, who has played a crucial role in CIC’s remarkable growth,” said Nicolas Théry, Chairman of CIC.

It has been a great pleasure for me to work with Philippe Vidal. I salute his achievements and loyalty throughout these years spent serving a great corporate bank. Philippe has made a decisive contribution to CIC’s strategy and to its performance across all of its markets, as well as to the synergies achieved with Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale. I offer a warm welcome to Éric Charpentier,” said Daniel Baal, CEO of CIC.

Having joined Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe in 1998 as deputy general manager in charge of the Finance and Business division and risen to the role of Deputy CEO in 2004, Éric Charpentier has been CEO of Crédit Mutuel Nord Europe since 2006, a position which he will retain.

He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Beobank, Belgium (from 2015), Banque de Tunisie, Tunisia (from 2019) and Sciences Po Lille (from 2019).

He has been a director of Crédit Industriel et Commercial since 2015.
